Full-time Risk Specialist
The Community Health Center of the New River Valley is seeking a full-time (40 hours) Risk Specialist based in the Human Resources department at its Christiansburg clinic.This position is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating clinical and organizational risk across the organization using regulatory expertise of a risk management professional, bridging the gap between frontline clinical operations and enterprise risk, compliance, and quality functions. Key Responsibilities:

The Community Health Center of the New River Valley is seeking a full-time (40 hours) medical Scheduling Coordinator in its Christiansburg office.
This position is responsible for administrative review that audits and optimizes the physician daily appointment templates ahead of time to fix errors, balance provider workloads and match patient needs. This position will review open and booked slots to ensure proper time allocation for specific types of visits, identify unconfirmed appointments and take action ultimately improving patient access and eliminating bottlenecks.
This position will also serve as a backup to the front office patient access assistants greeting patients with courtesy, respect, and positive communication. Part-Time Patient Transportation Van Driver
Community Health Center of the New River Valley (CHCNRV) is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and service-oriented Part-Time Patient Transportation Van Driver to help our patients access the healthcare they need.
Transportation can be a significant barrier to receiving medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare. In this role, you will make a meaningful difference by safely transporting patients from their homes to their scheduled appointments and returning them home after their visit.
What You’ll Do
- Safely operate the CHCNRV patient transportation van to transport patients to and from scheduled appointments.
- Pick up patients at their homes and transport them to the appropriate CHCNRV location.
- Return patients safely to their homes following their appointments.
- Provide courteous, respectful, and compassionate customer service to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Assist patients as they enter and exit the vehicle when needed.
- Help patients feel comfortable and welcome during their transportation experience.
- Follow established transportation schedules and communicate promptly regarding delays, changes, or concerns.
- Perform basic vehicle safety checks and maintain the cleanliness of the van.
- Follow all CHCNRV policies and procedures related to patient safety, confidentiality, HIPAA, and transportation.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and professionalism when interacting with patients.
- Report any safety concerns, incidents, or patient issues to the appropriate CHCNRV staff member.

Transportation Scheduler
The Community Health Center of the New River Valley is seeking a part-time Transportation Scheduler (approximately 20 hours/week) to coordinate non-emergency patient transportation for medical appointments to help improve patient access to care.
The position will be based in Christiansburg with a potential to go fully remote after 90 days.
Responsibilities include scheduling transportation, communicating with patients and transportation providers, documenting arrangements in the electronic medical record, resolving scheduling issues, and providing excellent customer service.
Qualified candidates should have a clean/clear Virginia driver’s license, knowledge of the New River Valley geography, strong communication and organizational skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to multitask. Previous experience in medical scheduling, dispatch, and customer service in a healthcare setting preferred.
Flexible scheduling may be available based on clinic needs.
Benefits are not available for this part-time position, which ranges from $19 – $21/hour.
