Dental Assistant – Part-time, Christiansburg
The Community Health Center of the New River Valley is seeking one part-time chair-side Dental Assistant for our Christiansburg Center on Fridays, 7:30am – 6pm.
Duties include: assisting dentist with patient management during dental procedures, documenting patient information, materials prep, prepares/maintains dental equipment, sterilization, taking vital signs, charting and inventory. Maintains infection control in operatories, equipment and lab. Must demonstrate good communication skills, positive attitude and be able to work in a team environment.

Behavioral Health School-Based Clinician – full-time
The Community Health Center of the New River Valley is seeking a full-time (40 hours) Behavioral Health School-Based Clinician.
This role will be based in Community Health Center’s clinic within Eastern Montgomery High School
Responsibilities include:
- Provide brief, evidence-based behavioral health interventions to students and school staff within the School-Based Health Center.
- Conduct behavioral health assessments, screenings, and risk evaluations.
- Respond to behavioral health crises and provide appropriate intervention, safety planning, and follow-up care.
- Collaborate closely with medical and dental providers to deliver integrated, whole-person care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and care coordination to ensure seamless, wraparound services.
- Identify patients requiring higher levels of behavioral health care and facilitate referrals to community resources and specialty providers.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
- Develop collaborative relationships with school administrators, counselors, teachers, nurses, and other school personnel to promote coordinated care while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Educate patients, families, school staff, and healthcare team members on behavioral health topics and available resources.
- Participate in case consultations, integrated treatment team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Build and maintain a sustainable caseload through collaboration, outreach, and engagement within the school community.

Qualifications:
Required
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field.
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or license-eligible with the ability to obtain licensure within an agreed-upon timeframe.

School-Based Health Center Administrative Coordinator – full-time
The Community Health Center of the New River Valley is seeking a full-time (40 hours) Administrative Coordinator for its two school clinics.
This role will serve as the primary administrative support for the school-based health centers in both Pulaski and Montgomery counties. This position is responsible for ensuring efficient daily operations by coordinating patient registration, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, supporting billing processes, managing office communications, and providing exceptional customer service to students, families, school personnel, and healthcare staff.
The Administrative Coordinator plays a critical role in creating a welcoming, professional, and confidential environment while supporting the delivery of high-quality, integrated healthcare services within the school setting. This individual must have exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills and be a motivated self-starter.
Responsibilities may include:
- Learn and perform limited Medical Assistant support duties under the direction of licensed clinical staff and within the scope of organizational policy.
- Assist with room preparation, stocking exam rooms, cleaning equipment between patients, and maintaining clinical supplies.
- Become proficient in basic clinical workflows to improve coordination between administrative and clinical teams.
- Assist providers and patients in facilitating telehealth visits, including preparing equipment, connecting patients to the virtual platform, troubleshooting basic technical issues, and ensuring required documentation is completed.
- Prepare patients for telehealth appointments by verifying demographic and insurance information, obtaining required consent forms, and confirming the reason for the visit.
- Participate in required training and competency assessments for telehealth support and assigned Medical Assistant functions.

Practitioner (MD or DO) or NP/PA – part-time, School-Based Health Center
We are seeking a Part-time Board-certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Physician or PA/NP to see patients one or two days per week at one of our two NRV school clinics. The Physician/PA/NP may occasionally be asked to see patients in one of our other clinics in Montgomery, Dublin, or Giles on an as needed basis and as mutually agreed upon.
This position will serve patients of all ages and involves providing complex direct medical care within an integrated healthcare setting. This includes working closely with behavioral health and dental staff to provide a more holistic experience for the patient. The work is performed independently with oversight provided by the Chief Medical Officer.
Qualifications:
Physician:
-Graduate from a medical school approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association or the Committee on Hospitals of the Bureau of Professional Education of the American Osteopathic Association.
-Board certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics.
Physician’s Assistant:
– Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies
– Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant
– Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Nurse Practitioner:
-Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program which conforms with the Board’s educational standards

The candidate will be a part of a healthcare team, providing support to providers. They will have both clinical and administrative duties providing medical care to patients of all ages. Candidate must be licensed in Virginia and have family practice experience. Behavioral health care and pediatric experience a plus.
