Meet Our Healthcare Team

Montgomery Center – Medical

David Roberts, MD, GYN, CMO

Dr. David Roberts is the Chief Medical Officer of the Community Health Center of the New River Valley. Dr. Roberts has over two decades of experience treating patients in our community. He focuses on women’s health services.

Dr. Roberts is active in the community with the Blacksburg Refugee Partnership and a men’s wintertime homeless shelter and is an avid bicyclist and skier.

Dr. Roberts splits his time between the Montgomery and Radford/Pulaski Center. 

Pete Guerra, MD

Specializing in Family Medicine, Dr. Guerra received his medical degree from University of Central Florida College of Medicine where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He then completed his residency at Southern Regional Area Health Education Center, Cape Fear Valley Hospital where he received numerous academic and teaching awards.

Dr. Guerra is fluent in English and Spanish. His interests include guitar, singing, coaching and mentoring youth, and studying theology.

Abraham Hardee, DO/PhD

Dr. Hardee is a graduate of Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. He joined the Community Health Center of the New River Valley in 2014. 

Dr. Hardee also serves as Associate Chair for Primary Care for Rural and Medically Underserved Population at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine.  

A Christiansburg native, Dr. Hardee received his undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech.

Linda Morrow, MD, GYN

Dr. Linda Morrow is an OB/GYN. She focuses on women’s healthcare. Dr. Morrow received her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. She has been in practice for more than 20 years.   Dr. Morrow splits her time between the Montgomery and Giles Centers.  

 

Anthony (Tony) Ramsey, Ph.D., FNP

Dr. Anthony Ramsey provides care at our Montgomery Center. 

Dr. Ramsey received his Bachelors and Masters of Nursing from Radford University and his Ph.D. in Nursing from West  Virginia University. 

He sees patients at our Montgomery Center.

 

Montgomery Center – Dental

Marianne Davis, D.D.S.

Dr. Marianne Davis earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry.  She has been practicing dentistry for over 30 years.  Dr. Davis enjoys reading and trying new restaurants.  She joins our dental team at the Montgomery Center to provide quality dental care for our patients.

Dr. Davis sees patients at our Montgomery Center.

Shadae Person, DDS

Dr. Shadae Person works with the dental team as a full-time general dentist in the Montgomery Center.  She is a graduate of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond.  Dr. Person will offer full dental services to include; exams, fillings, extractions, and dentures.

 Dr. Person loves reading, fishing, and cooking. 

Mona Semtner, DDS

Dr. Semtner volunteers her time to the Center and continues to support our mission to serve the community.  When she is not volunteering with us, Dr. Semtner and her husband have a private practice located in Roanoke.

Dr. Semtner graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Density. Away from the office, Dr. Mona Semtner is a wife to Dr. Rob Semtner, a mother to two wonderful boys and two beautiful girls, a children’s choir director at church, and loves to cook.

Montgomery Center – Behavioral Health

Ashley Slagel-Perry, LCSW

Ashley Slagel-Perry is our Behavioral Health Program Manager. She joined our Behavioral Health team in 2014.   Ashley provides behavioral health consultation and psychotherapy to adults and adolescents in our Montgomery Center. She also works closely with our physicians and nurses to provide quality care in our integrated health care model. 

Ashley received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Carolina.

Lauren Carter, LMSW

Lauren Carter is a Supervisee in Social Work. She joined our Behavioral Health team in April 2018. Lauren provides behavioral health consultation and psychotherapy to adults and adolescents.

 She received her Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University and has her LMSW in the state of Tennessee. Prior to joining us, she worked as a behavioral health assessment counselor and medical social worker in Northeast Tennessee.

Lauren splits her time between the Montgomery and Radford/Pulaski Centers. 

Whitney Chase, LCSW, QMHP-A

Whitney Chase is Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked the past five years in the New River Valley. Her background includes work in Bedford and experience in animal assisted therapy.

She received her Master’s in Social Work from Radford University and earned her undergraduate from James Madison University.

Giles Center – Medical

Morgan Akers, FNP-BC

Morgan Akers is board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing/ Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Marshall University in Huntington, West  Virginia. She provides primary care to patients of all ages.  

 Morgan is originally from Princeton, West Virginia.

Giles Center – Dental

Orlando Abreu, DDS, MSc

Dr. Abreu joins our dental team in Giles. He provides general dentistry services and is fluent in English and Spanish. He enjoys working with patients of all ages. 

He lives with his family in Blacksburg and has practiced dentistry for 15 years. 

In addition to his degree in dentistry, he also holds a Master of Science and serves on the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations as a Test Constructor.

Giles Center – Mental Health

Ally Yeatts, LCSW

Ally Yeatts is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  She joined our Behavioral Health team in April 2019.  Alley provides focused integrated care as well as traditional individual counseling and brief intervention appointments at our Giles and Radford/Pulaski locations.

She received her Master’s in Social Work from Radford University and has been working in the mental health and substance use field for 10 years.

Radford/Pulaski Medical

Rebecca King-Mallory, MD

Dr. Rebecca King-Mallory comes to the Community Health Center of the New River Valley in Dublin from Charleston, South Carolina. Specializing in family medicine, Dr. King-Mallory most recently completed her residency at Trident Family Medicine Residency Program where she also served as Resident Clinical Director.

A native of West Virginia, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marshall University Honors College and went on to receive her medical degree from Marshall University Medical School in Huntington. Her background includes extensive research, award-winning academics, numerous awards including honors in surgery, and recognition for her commitment to volunteerism and community service.

Radford/Pulaski Center – Dental

Radford/Pulaski Center – Mental Health

Janie Kelly, LPC

Janie Kelly, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She received her master’s degree in professional counseling from Liberty University and earned her undergraduate from Roanoke College.  She has been working with children, teens and their families for 5 years in the behavioral health field.

Janie will provide focused integrated care as well as traditional individual counseling and brief intervention appointments at our Radford/Pulaski office.

Erin Shaffer, LCSW

Erin Shaffer joined our Behavioral Health team in 2017. Erin provides behavioral health consultation and psychotherapy to adults and adolescents at our Radford/Pulaski Center. Erin received her Master’s in Social   Work from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY.  Prior to joining us, she worked as a medical social worker in Northern Virginia. 

A native of Pulaski County, she has returned to the New River Valley as a place to raise her family.
