CHCNRV No-Show Policy

Effective January 1, 2022

To increase access to appointments for all patients, the Center routinely monitors patient “no-show appointments.”  A “No-Show” occurs when a patient fails to show for a scheduled appointment and does not notify the practice before 3 pm on the prior business day to either reschedule or cancel. Monday appointments must be rescheduled or cancelled before 3 pm on the Friday preceding the appointment.

After three No-Shows appointments are documented, the patient must attend a face-to face or virtual “No-Show” meeting with the Program Director (or other designated staff). This meet will address any issues or barriers that the patient has with keeping their appointments.

Until this “No-Show” meeting occurs, the patient is cannot schedule routine appointments. Medications may be prescribed only to cover the time between the meeting and when the following healthcare appointment is scheduled to take place.

After the “No-Show” meeting occurs, the Program Director (or other designated staff) will meet with the team of clinical staff who are involved in the patient’s care. The team of clinical staff will determine the next steps, which may include an inability to schedule appointments for six months or discharge. The recommendation to discharge from the practice must be approved in writing by the CMO.

If a patient has a No-Show after attending their No-Show Meeting, the clinical team will determine next steps on a case-by-case basis. The team may determine that the patient must be discharged from the practice. As always, the recommendation to discharge from the practice must be approved in writing by the CMO.

New Patient No-Shows – New patients who No-Show for an appointment will not be able to schedule a new patient appointment at any Center site for six months.
