Medical Team
Rebecca King-Mallory, MD, CMO – Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Rebecca King-Mallory is the Chief Medical Officer of the Community Health Center of the New River Valley. She specializes in family medicine and obesity treatment. Dr. King-Mallory practiced for four years in the CHCNRV Dublin Center before being promoted to CMO. She completed her residency at Trident Family Medicine Residency Program in Charleston, SC where she also served as Resident Clinical Director.
A native of West Virginia, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marshall University Honors College and went on to receive her medical degree from Marshall University Medical School in Huntington. Her background includes extensive research, award-winning academics, numerous awards including honors in surgery, and recognition for her commitment to volunteerism and community service.
Kathryn Ballard, MSN, FNP-C
Kathryn is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner who brings more than ten years of experience providing care across a range of patient ages and conditions.
Kathryn earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Radford University Carilion in 2023 and has a broad clinical background that includes roles as a registered nurse, care coordinator, and psychiatric nursing case manager. Her expertise encompasses managing both acute and chronic health conditions, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and working collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
Cathy Callahan, MD MPH
Dr. Cathy Callahan provides GYN care and medication-assisted treatment at our Christiansburg office. Her impressive credentials include being the founding Medical Director, physician, and board member at CHCNRV, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Associate Dean of Post Graduate Affairs, and Chair of the Clinical Sciences Department at Via College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Callahan earned her MD and MPH from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and was a resident at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been certified by both the Virginia Board of Medicine and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2005.
Kelly Rebkovich, DO
Dr. Kelly Rebkovich, DO, has joined our clinical team at the Christiansburg office. Dr. Rebkovich is a board-certified Family Medicine physician caring for individuals of all ages.
Dr. Rebkovich brings a wealth of experience from her roles at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery and Carilion Clinic, where she practiced family medicine, trained residents, and served as a clinical preceptor for medical students at the Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her expertise includes preventive care, management of chronic illnesses, and coordination of care for a variety of health conditions.
Megan Cornwell Thomas, DO, FAAP, FACOI, FACP
Dr. Megan Cornwell Thomas serves patients in Christiansburg, Dublin, and the Student Health Center.
A graduate of Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Thomas has extensive experience as a practitioner, teacher, speaker, and mentor. She completed an Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. Dr. Thomas then returned to Montgomery County, serving as Core Faculty by supervising residents in the Internal Medicine Continuity Clinic at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, and serving as the Chair of Internal Medicine at VCOM. Throughout her career, she has mentored hundreds of students and interns and earned multiple teaching awards.
Jean R. Duetsch, MSN, CPNP-PC, IBCLC
Jean Duetsch is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with certifications in pediatric primary care and lactation who is licensed to care for children and adolescents from birth to age 21. In addition to her Master of Science in Nursing, she received a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Old Dominion University in May 2023, and also holds degrees from the University of Delaware School of Nursing and the College of William & Mary. Together with her previous role as a registered nurse and lactation consultant, she has been caring for infants, children, and families in the New River Valley community for over 20 years. Duetsch has completed comprehensive pediatric mental health training through the Virginia Mental Health Access Program’s REACH initiative. She also completed a Project Echo program sponsored by the AAP’s Rural Health Initiative on management of pediatric obesity. She is dedicated to helping families enjoy their children and optimize their health.
An active local volunteer, her service includes Montgomery County Christmas Store, St. John Neumann Academy, Women’s Resource Center, Pregnancy Resource Center, and various other local groups.
Jennifer L. Johnson, MSPA, PA-C, CAQ-Psych
Jennifer L. Johnson, MSPA, PA-C, CAQ-Psych has more than ten years of experience working in an integrated healthcare team setting. Her background includes working as a PA in Roanoke and Beckley, WV.
Johnson’s background includes extensive familiarity with the challenges faced by the underserved population and sensitivity to their unique circumstances. She has worked with individuals with substance use disorders, as well as in family medicine with general populations.
Melisa Loving, APRN, FNP-C
Melisa Loving is a compassionate and enthusiastic Family Nurse Practitioner who strives to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care to people of all ages. FNP Loving has over a decade of experience as a Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner.
After earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, she received her BSN from WVU and later completed the Master of Science Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner Concentration program at West Virginia Wesleyan College. She comes to the Community Health Center from Mon Health Wedgewood Primary Care & Psychiatry in Morgantown, WV.
Megan Riggs, FNP
Megan Riggs is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in the Christiansburg office.
Riggs completed her FNP degree at Radford University Carilion and has been a Registered Nurse in the New River Valley since 2013, working in primary care, occupational health, home health, and medical-surgical nursing.
Kimberly Stevenson, FNP-BC
Kimberly Stevenson is a family nurse practitioner at the Pulaski-Radford clinic. Kimberly received her Master’s degree from Northern Kentucky University and her Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University. She has seven years of nursing experience, including critical care, clinical instructing, school-based health, and primary care.
Kimberly is focused on improving the lives of the southwestern Virginia community through diagnosis and treatment of acute illness, preventive care, and chronic disease management. When she is not treating patients, she enjoys spending time outside with her husband, daughter, and her two dogs.
Dental Team
S. Alexander Wood, DDS – Dental Director
Dr. S. Alexander Wood sees patients at our Dublin office and serves as ChCNRV’s Dental Director. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Wood also oversees our groundbreaking new dental residency program.
Dr. Wood earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, where he achieved academic excellence while demonstrating exceptional leadership skills. His skill set includes a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative treatments, extractions, endodontic procedures, and prosthodontic treatments. Dr. Wood also brings a strong background in community service. He has participated in dental mission trips to provide free dental care to underserved populations.
Katelyn Cantrell, DDS
Dr. Katelyn Cantrell joins CHCNRV from Charlottesville where she provided general dentistry services as an associate at a successful practice. Her wide range of experience also includes working in free clinics and as part of a volunteer team providing dental care to underserved areas.
After graduating from UVA-Wise, she earned her dental Degree from VCU and was a resident at the University of Virginia. Dr. Cantrell has a strong leadership background as a volunteer and is a member of the American Dental Association.
Sara Chehreh, DMD
Dr. Sara Chehreh sees patients in our Christiansburg office.
Dr. Chehreh is a graduate of Midwestern University’s College of Dental Medicine in Illinois. Dr. Chehreh has volunteered her dental services for charitable organizations while holding leadership roles with the American Association of Women Dentists. She is proficient in both Spanish and Danish.
Dr. Eleanor Cvach
Dr. Eleanor Cvach sees patients in our Christiansburg office and as part of the School-based program in Pulaski County. In addition to expertise in general dentistry, Dr. Cvach has extensive experience in pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Cvach previously worked in dentistry at New Horizons Healthcare, Southwest Virginia Pediatric Dentistry and the Henritze Dental Group. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of New England and completed her pediatric residency at the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson, MS, where she served as Chief Resident.
Chao Yi Zhang, DDS
Chao Yi Zhang, DDS served as a volunteer dental assistant at The Community Health Center before a distinguished academic career at VCU and practicing at successful dental practices in Richmond and the New River Valley.
In addition to family dentistry and preventive care, his experience includes comprehensive dental procedures such as operative dentistry, endodontics, digital crown, and bridge, removable partial/complete dentures, and implant restorations. He enjoys working with patients of all ages.
Behavioral Health Team
Whitney Chase, Substance Use Program Manager
Whitney Chase, LCSW joined the Center in 2019 and is our Substance Use Program Manager. Whitney received her Master of Social Work from Radford University in 2015, during which she focused her studies on Addiction Treatment. Whitney provides behavioral health psychotherapy and consultation to adults and adolescents. She specializes in the treatment of substance use disorders, engaging patients in individual, family, and group therapy. When not helping patients meet their treatment goals, Whitney enjoys spending time with her family (including 3 dogs) and gardening.
Jenni Farthing, LPC-E, Resident in Counseling
Jenni Farthing joined the center in 2023. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Virginia Tech and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Radford University. Jenni has been working with families for over six years, maintaining a trauma-informed and attachment-focused perspective with a special interest in supporting parents through challenges. Jenni provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults in individual, family, and couples work.
In her free time, Jenni enjoys embroidery, reading, and time with her family and pets.
Laura Hayes, LCSW
Laura Hayes, LCSW joined the Center in 2020. She completed her Master of Social Work degree from Radford University and has been working in the field of addiction treatment for over six years. Laura provides psychotherapy for adults and adolescents for a wide range of behavioral health needs with a treatment focus in rational emotive behavior therapy and mindfulness. Outside of work, you can find Laura curled up somewhere comfortable with a good book, a hot mug of tea, and a couple of animals.
Consuella Hoston, MSW
Consuella Hoston holds a Master of Social Work from Radford University and brings extensive experience in providing therapeutic services and support to individuals and families. Hoston has a robust background in various therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Care. She has worked in the behavioral health field with clients of all ages in the New River Valley since 2011.
Janie Kelly, Integrated Care Supervisor
Janie Kelly, LPC joined the Center in 2019 and is our Integrated Care Supervisor. She received her master’s degree in professional counseling from Liberty University. Janie works with both adolescents and adult providing psychotherapy and behavioral health consultations. Janie specializes in family work and gets excited about helping families overcome challenges. Janie serves as a liaison with Montgomery County schools and assist educators/families with identifying mental health needs and providing recommendations for resources. Janie enjoys walking, spending time with her family (including fur babies) and fostering dogs.
Jon McNamara, MSW
Jon McNamara, MSW earned his Masters Degree in Social Work from Radford University and holds a BA from the University of Arizona. His experience includes interning with Carilion and coordinating, managing, and implementing programming at an area non-profit.
Jon is a guild-certified practitioner of The Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education and holds certifications in ASSIST Suicide Prevention and non-violent crisis intervention.
Ally Yeatts, Clinical Training Supervisor
Ally Yeatts, LCSW joined the Center in 2019 and is our Clinical Training Supervisor. She received her Master’s in Social Work from Radford University. Ally provides focused integrated care through behavioral health consultation. She also engages patients in traditional individual/couples/family counseling. Her areas of specialty include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, and Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach. Ally is also a trained Diabetic Lifestyle Coach and helping patients learn how to better manages their diabetes. Outside of the office, Ally enjoys spending time with friends, family, and pets, and listening to true crime podcasts.
